Hello, Glowupers! Let’s stay motivated to lose weight together!
Today was one of those days when the reality of my glow-up journey hit hard—literally! I woke up feeling incredibly sore from my gym workout last week. It was my first time back at the gym in about 8-9 years, and I ambitiously went three days in a row. Let’s say my abs are a testament to my weight loss journey; they really remind me of that now. They’re burning so much that I couldn’t even lift my 5-year-old son, Mark Anthony, because it was too much for my core, which I’m trying to strengthen for my weight loss goal. But you know what? It’s important to recognize our weight loss goals along the way. I’m embracing the soreness because it’s a sign that I’m pushing myself, progressing, and getting stronger in my weight loss journey.
In addition to going to the gym, I’ve also been incorporating home weight training into my routine. It’s a blend of stretches, yoga, meditation, Pilates, and lightweight lifting that supports my weight loss goal. Even though I was feeling sore and exhausted by the end of the day, I decided to give my home workout a try. I thought I didn’t have the strength to get through it, but it felt great once I started. I’m proud to say that I completed the entire routine, and it reminded me just how powerful our minds and bodies can be when we push through our lifestyle changes for weight loss.
Tomorrow, I plan to take a break from the intense workouts and go for my usual morning walk, which helps me stay motivated to lose weight. I call it my gratitude walk—a peaceful time to observe nature, listen to worship songs and connect with God. It’s a gentle form of cardio that refreshes my spirit as much as my body. I’ve been taking these walks for the past four years, which are essential to my routine. There’s something priceless about starting the day with gratitude and worship.
On the food front, I’m still sticking to my low-carb diet, and I’m thrilled to say that everything I’ve been cooking has been absolutely delicious. It’s so motivating to enjoy the food I’m making, and I can’t wait to start sharing my recipes with you here on the blog. Stay tuned for some mouth-watering, healthy dishes that I hope will inspire you on your journey to lose weight.
Now, onto something a bit more challenging—today, I weighed myself in the morning and noticed I was two pounds up. It was a bit discouraging, but then I remembered that this happens every month around my period. I tend to retain water and lose about 90% of my energy during this time, so I’m trying not to let it get me down. It’s all part of the process, and I know the weight will balance out again.
Despite the soreness and the slight weight gain, I found joy in the little things today, like grocery shopping with my son, which is part of my lifestyle change. We had so much fun, and I picked up some lactose-free sour cream for a recipe I’m excited to try—gluten-free, sugar-free donuts for my little guy! These moments keep me grounded and remind me why I’m on this journey.
Thank you for being here with me as I navigate the ups and downs of glowing up and trying to lose weight. Remember, it’s not just about the destination but the journey, the growth, and the joy we find along the way as we work towards our weight loss motivation.
Let’s keep glowing up together, one day at a time!
