Post # 4: Self-Care and Small Victories on My Glow-Up Journey

August 28, 2024 · In: Lifestyle, Motivation, Personal Development

Hello, Glowupers! We’re moving forward strongly and steadily with the Glow Her Up project. Today, I got my period (I know, TMI, but it’s all part of our mood, health, and overall well-being). So, once again, I skipped my walk, but I did make it to the gym with my husband.

I was able to complete my lower body workout with ease, even though I’m still a bit sore from working the same muscle group yesterday. On the bright side, I’m happy to report that my weight dropped slightly today, down to 131 pounds, probably thanks to the lack of appetite and fasting yesterday. I’m still not feeling very hungry, and honestly, I’m finding it quite refreshing!

I’m planning to do some home exercises later that combine stretching and yoga. I feel like this will be really good for me. Since I stopped drinking alcohol over three years ago, I’ve put a strong focus on self-care, and it’s been the biggest factor in overcoming my old habit of drinking and the identity I had tied to it.

These days, my life revolves around self-care, making sure I feel good so I can tackle my daily tasks with energy and enthusiasm. I love feeling good, so I remind myself of this and try to do small things every day that keep me in a positive state of mind. I’ll be sharing more about these little habits here, and I might even create separate, detailed posts about each one (my list keeps growing!).

I’ve noticed that when I used to have a busy social life tied to alcohol, I wasn’t practicing much self-care. I think I was drinking to bypass my boundaries, as it made it easier and quicker to forget and relax from stress. But in reality, a solid self-care routine is crucial for getting through our days in a healthy way.

That’s it for today… I’m really enjoying coming here each day to share my experiences with you, and I hope you’re also on the #DailyGlow journey, sharing your own experiences with me. See you tomorrow, stay with God, and may your life become more wonderful each day!
